I just love this time of year. The trees are starting to bud, grass is finally starting to wake up again, and you can just feel the itch of summer coming on. We just love summer in my house, not just because we get to sleep in, but also because we love to swim. My kids participate in swim team each year and they really enjoy it. Fortunately, I enjoy making swim suits, especially since I can customize them to fit just perfectly. This year though, I branched out and made something for myself as well. I absolutely loved this geometric print from Raspberry Creek Fabrics that came out this year, so I used it for a swim top.
This print was so great for the Harley top pattern from Edgewater Avenue. The pattern can be made in 3 different styles to make different looks too, which is always a plus when it comes to purchasing a sewing pattern. I paired the top with the Roxy bottoms from Made for Mermaids in solid peacock swim. I love that these bottoms have a high waisted option and have ruching on the sides to help hide my tummy.
My daughter is 7 and loves to draw rainbows, so I knew the cute pink rainbow print would be perfect for her. She scoured through my pattern library to find exactly what she wanted this cute print to be. After looking for a while, she landed on the Brooklyn pattern from Petite Stitchery. The pattern comes with several different styles, including a knotted front and flutter sleeves, but she really liked all the ruching with the ties for her suit.
She literally squealed when she saw how it turned out. I really think this will end up being one of her favorite suits this summer. This print just paired so well with the solid fuchsia that’s in the shop too.
