RCF Favorite Things Blog Tour 2021

I had so much fun last year doing the Favorite Things tour with Raspberry Creek Fabrics that I came back again. I love that with this tour we get to sew up some of our favorite patterns along with share some of our favorite sewing related items. In addition to that, this year Raspberry Creek Fabrics will soon start allowing customers to order past prints on many different fabric bases.

With the way things went the last year or so, I definitely went with out favorite cozy and comfy patterns. I sewed a Valencia from Pattern Niche for me, since I love it for a relaxed tee pattern. My daughter got some new pajamas with the classic Movie Night Pajamas from Sew a Little Seam.

The Movie Night Pajamas pattern is probably one of the most used patterns in my library. It’s so great with lots of options, and even better that it’s a free pattern. My kids are always in need of pajamas since they’re growing so fast. I used some double brushed polyester for her pair of pajamas with a print from early 2017.

I personally have always loved wearing relaxed tees. It’s one of my go-to outfits to pair with jeans, joggers, or shorts. The Valencia pattern from Pattern Niche has tons of different options, including color blocking, banded hems for sweaters, and even cute back options. The fit of this pattern has always been one of my favorites. I love the amount of ease it has through the waist and hips. With this version, I just did a simple tee with the new bamboo cotton spandex as a base. This base was really nice to work with it was only slightly lighter in weight than the RCF jersey fabric that I’m used to with the CLUB prints. I was surprised that it had less drape than some of the other bamboo fabrics that I’ve tried, but I love that it’s a good weight for the lighter prints so it’s not see through. I had one of my favorite florals from 2019 printed on this bamboo, and I’ve worn it several times (it probably needs to be washed again lol).

As we all know as sewists, there’s always a tool at our disposal that we love. For me, it’s my Kai scissors! Every pair that I own are a great weight so they’re comfortable in my hand, and they cut so buttery smooth. I love that my long 8″ ones are offset, so if you cut out your fabric with the pattern pieces on top then these will cut flat without having to lift the fabric to cut. I have so many different brands of scissors (Gingher, Weiss, Fiskars, and Westcott) and these are hands down the best ones that I have! I can never recommend them enough when someone asks for a good pair of scissors. They are worth every penny that I’ve spent.

I hope my favorite things inspired you to sew up something new for yourself, or someone else. Be sure to check out all the giveaways going on this week, as well as all the other talented sewists joining in on this tour.
